For those of you who have visited me in Huntington Beach know that we are 3 blocks from the beach, and you would probably think we go to
the beach all the time... Well, for some weird reason, I guess we take it for granted, and really don't go very much. It's almost like I don't even notice it's there sometimes. Well, this weekend was gorgeous! Very sunny, and even a little breezy! Perfect, right? So, we got our bikes out of the dusty garage, and rode down to the pier.
Very crowded during the summertime as you can see from this pic. There is usually some kind of event going on year round in downtown HB - such as x-games, pro paint ball contests, pro surfing events, etc. This Saturday was a pro men's volleyball exhibit. Pretty cool. I love volleyball... brings me back to my middle school days of playing on the blacktop with knee pads. And also sadly reminds me how I did not make our high school's volleyball team. (Jessica can sympathize - we cried together over our lost.) ;) Oh well, I'm better at watching than playing I guess.
We also took a trip to Costco to get some things for a BBQ we had yesterday. I was pretty excited when I found out I was in charge of dessert, because I think you can get a little more creative with that than chicken or steak. I've really been on a baking kick lately. Too bad my hobbies aren't very healthy...Anyone have similar suggestions for a new hobby that don't require as many calories? Here is a picture with me and my little creation. i wish we were there! ethan and grace LOVED playing in the sand at the beach when we were there. maybe we'll take a little trip when scott quits work...
I'm jealous - I absolutely love HB! I spent a lot of time there back in the days when I was single (ok - so not that long ago since we've only been married a year and a half). It was the favorite spot for all of us living in Arizona with the sun and no beach! And that cake looks fabulous. I'm ready to head to Costco after work and get a flat of strawberries!
your baking skills are incredible. i only wish that you exercised this talent more often when we lived together.
I agree with what everyone has said-I would love to be near a beach right now. I heard you took Ty and Abby's pictures-how did it go?
