Lazy 4th

boy do i love me a good lazy holiday. mom and amy were still in town, so we chilled in the morning then walked over to the Huntington Beach parade on Main Street. It was pretty hot, so mom and amy sat at the park bench and people watched, while me and jeremy cheered from the front lines (to be accurate, it was more like second or third line - tons of peeps there.) the highlight of the parade for me was getting little American flags from a parade goer. After that, it was so stinkin hot that we walked back home and got the BBQ going.
you can see our little flag in jeremy's sunglasses.

while jeremy was BBQ-ing, I made the traditional Loaded Baked Potato Salad and Amy baked a fabulous fruit pizza with some raspberries and blackberries that I couldn't resist at Costco the day before. We also went for a little joy ride.

We dropped off mom and amy at airport later in the afternoon, but it's too bad they left before the big firework show at the Pier, because that is my favorite thing about the 4th of July in HB.
my dad drove down from Fresno to drop Jacob off at the airport too, since Jacob was spending the week with my dad in Fresno.
We topped of the day by riding our bikes down to the Pier. It's pretty cool down there, because they block off PCH (the street in front of the beach/pier) so everyone is riding bikes through the street.
We plopped right down on the median (or neutral ground as we call it in 'Nawlins) to watch the firework show.
Tax payer's dollars hard at work
We saw Corb (jeremy's old roomie) and Jenn and watched fireworks with them. I didn't bring the big camera (see title post) but Jenn did, and got some cool pics with hers. (i'm still waiting on those.)

on a sorta random side note, because this photo was included in my mobile downloads from above, i saw this beautiful bed in a window display at bloomingdales when i was shopping with my mom earlier in the week. needless to say, i love it so much and now want my bedroom to look like this. (i figured it wasn't so random, since its blue and white)

I love the bed, and I love when family comes in town. You made me jealous that you had your mom and fam here! I wish I could see mine. :)

Happy 4th! Glad it was a good time!

What a fun 4th. We had a mellow
4th too. So your baked potatoe salad is now "Emily's Famous Baked Potatoe Salad" Kristen made it for our festivites :) That stuff is GOOD! I think it's funny that on my last post I have 3 comments and they are all from you. I guess no one else loves me. Thanks for the love Em :)

That looks like so much fun!! Rod and I went to Durango, CO for a couple days over his bday. I still need to get it posted. It was a lot of fun.

I love the bedroom set too. So pretty!

Emily, not only are those linens great (and easy to copy or eventually find discounted), but I do think that the actual bed is perfection for practicality, function and style. Wood beds are attractive, but you need a ton of pillows to cusion it. Fabric covered headboards are quite attractive, but get dirty or outdated quickly. Metal frames are gorgeous and timeless, but, OUCH, hurt like heck without a myriad of pillows. The curves and leather of this headboard seem perfect and the footboard is excellent for kiddies climbing into bed with you so that they don't get hurt. This bed truly would be like a giant sleigh for the whole family!

ok, that's my 2 cents' opinion!

That picture of your family with Jacob is freaking me out! I remember when they moved into the 1st ward my last year in NOLA and Jacob was in NURSERY and your dad spoke spanish to him. I can't believe he is so big (how old do I sound???)
