bad day

i got a nasty extremely rude accusatory email from someone at work today, and its amazing how one small thing can affect your entire afternoon. it took me like 40 minutes to craft an appropriate email in response - and at least 3-4 drafts (of saying what i really wanted to say...to eventually finding a happy medium). got me completely flustered, face bright red, hair pulled back in a pony tail, and couldn't even concentrate on the rest of my work for the day. why can't i just brush things off easier?!?! maybe because this is like the 3rd rude email from this same person since she starting working at my company a couple months ago.

anyways, i decided to cheer myself up with a little brown and pink box from sprinkles to help and also remind myself only 5 more weeks until maternity leave and i get a nice long break from people like her. i'm already feeling better. repeat. just 5 more weeks.

Spinach Smoothies

Kristin, you're a genius!
My friend Kristin in my ward taught us how to make spinach smoothies for our relief society activity last week. please don't be scared of the name or the color. because i definitely was and was skeptical to even taste it (come on! i grew up in the south where it's not uncommon to have an entire stick of butter in 1 dish/1 plate)--but i promise you will like it, and the taste of spinach is totally disguised!! it reminds me of my favorite smoothie at Smoothie King growing up called the "Light and fluffy"- taste like orange, banana and strawberry. yum!!

the best part about it is... you get your veggies for the day! i'm not the greatest when it comes to eating greens, so this is a great way to get your greens for the day (along with fruits for the day)

Most of the ingredients I got from Costco--which is great to have in bulk, since I try to have this {almost} once a day {for breakfast or even sometimes dinner}.

* large bag of frozen strawberries
* large jug of OJ
* large container of fresh baby spinach
* large bunch of ripe bananas- that i peel and put in a large freezer bag, and take one out at a time for smoothie
* large container of vanilla yogurt

Step 1: fill blender to 1 cup line with Orange Juice and add 2 handfuls of {baby} spinach. blend/grind/etc until spinach is completing blended into OJ.

Step 2: Add 1 frozen ripe banana (frozen because its more frothy than a regular ripe banana). blend until mixed well.

Step 3: Add the yummy stuff!!! 5 frozen strawberries, and 1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt. And blend until smooth.

Side note: when you mix RED (strawberries) PLUS GREEN (spinach smoothie) the resulting color is not so appetizing...SOOOOO...Jeremy's wonderful Christmas present to me this year really came in handy.

Jeremy knows I love drinking from Styrofoam cups with lids and straws, and usually save these cups from different places we go and re-use at home. He calls them my "sippy cups".
So thus he thought it would be a good idea to get me my own personal stash of Styrofoam cups, lids and straws. We have a huge stack of these cups now standing as tall as me in our kitchen. Really truly, one of the best presents I've ever received.

Stool on a Rope

I've searched high and low for the perfect stool for my latest "invention". ha!

I drive the jeep everyday to work, because Jeremy takes my honda because he commutes 180 miles a day round trip (to San Diego and back). And because the jeep comes up almost to my hip...its not very easy for me to climb in, especially the more large with child I become.

For the past month or so, I've been thinking about how incredibly helpful it would be to have a stool to climb into the jeep everyday. and then I thought well i need to be able to get the stool from the ground to pick up after I've climbed in. So... i've come up with "Stool on a Rope". All i need is the stool below from Ikea to NOT BE OUT OF STOCK, it even already has 2 holes on the side that I could tie a rope through, that way i could pull the stool up after I'm already in the jeep. you would think it wouldn't be difficult to find a stool like this. but i've been to over 4 stores, and no ones carries anything like it. (at least that i've found.)

here is a sketch of my idea:

Jen's baby shower

My good friend Jen adopted a sweet little baby boy from Detroit who was born on Christmas Eve. What a wonderful Christmas gift. Tonight we showered her and baby Aaron with lots of love.

I really like this little thing called the internet that you can type in a simple search for "baby shower games" and you get pages of recommendations. The first game was a race to see who could finish sucking the juice in the bottle fastest. I'm not sure how excited everyone was about this, because after like 2 minutes, the majority of people had only sucked about an ounce maybe two. So we just saw who drank the most. No wonder babies take so long to drink from a bottle! It's hard work!

Amber P. & Jen

I found a delicious recipe for a simple appetizer on this blog, and these little suckers turned out awesome. Especially her recommended balsamic glaze (Gia Russa's brand from Bristol Farms).

And a couple pictures of the man of the hour, little baby Aaron:

Pearce Elizabeth

I was chatting on the phone with my older sis, Jessica, today, and she asked me if I had any feelings on what baby girl's personality would be like based on my experience with her so far in the womb. At first, I said no, I'd never thought about it. Then asked her what exactly she meant. She explained that she could guess the personalities of her now 4 children by the way they moved during the pregnancy. For example, Ethan, her oldest is a very persistent, slightly OCD child, and she said she predicted this personality trait based on his persistence always kicking her in the ribs in the same exact spot repeatedly everytime throughout her pregnancy. She obviously explained it much better than I just did, as well as went through each of her children and their movements/personalities, but you get the drift...

So it got me thinking...I realized I guess I had already thought about what little Pearce would be like. So then I told my sis, I think she is a chill little girl, she's quiet and calm for medium to long periods of time, then she moves around/re-adjusts/gets some wiggles out for a good amount of time... then goes back to being calm. So I've imagined her personality to be sweet, chill and calm, but also needing some attention and party time. Her movements are never the same. I can feel her different body parts in different places all the time. So I think she might be a little bit crazy like her mom and can't stay in one place for too long. (It could be that i'm just hoping for these personality traits so we'll just have to see!)

I'm excited to see what she is really like, and as she grows up see what her real personality will be like. I can't wait to hug and kiss and love her lots.

la jolla car show

We had a very long, but exciting weekend in San Diego - from meet and greets at the shop to attending book signing for a new Cobra Shelby book to an 8 hour tour to 4 different classic car museums throughout San Diego to a cocktail party, and to working at a booth in a classic car show from 8am-4pm.

Some or many of you know that Jeremy switched gears this past year, and started working at a Classic Car Restoration Shop in San Diego (Sorrento Valley) back in June. And at the beginning of this year, Jeremy and our good friend Tommy (We go camping and off-roading with him and his wife all the time) started their own shop in the same building. And thus, S C Classic & Performance is born. Here is a picture from their shop:

This weekend was the La Jolla Motor Car Classic, and we had a booth to get our name out there and hopefully get some new customers. Not a bad view to have all day. It was right on the ocean in La Jolla Cove.

Here is the ad I helped Jeremy make to put in the Program for the event as well as flyers to hand out.

It was really a perfect day. 70s. Sunny with ocean breeze. Gorgeous views.
Us at the end of a long weekend:
