We've been a little under the weather this week (mostly Pearce) and have been keeping a low profile. And I'm still not sure if I'm really sick, or just still recovering from an allergic reaction to a dog, cat, and guinea pig from my visiting teaching a few days ago. hahahaha I'll have to take some Benadryl BEFORE I go next time.
Last week I made...not one...but TWO toddler backpacks! I've been seeing a bunch in blogland recently, and decided it was time for me to give it a try. I used the
Made by Rae pattern. It was super easy to follow and learned about "fusible interlining". Never heard of such a thing beforehand. You iron it on to fabric to make it sturdier and it helps hold the shape of the backpack. I used quilt weight fabric, although I think home dec weight fabric or canvas would be more sturdier. But for an 18 month old, it will do just fine. Holds mostly little ponies, little people, some crayons and some books. Pearce modeled the purple one while we walked to get mail this morning.
I originally made her a pink with neon yellow piping and was gonna send this purple one to her cousin, Eleanor, whose birthday is around the corner...but Pearce didn't want to have anything to do with the pink one, she'd slip off the straps faster than she slips off her carseat straps. So I called my sister Sarah to see if eleanor would like the pink one better, and she said yes! So we did a little swap-a-roo. Here are a couple pics I got of Pearce in the pink backpack before it was shipped last week.
there goes those little fingers...
slippity do, and it's off!
And while we're on a Pearce picture spree... The morning of her first official day of Nursery. Always a little too rushed. Would have loved to get that "picture-perfect" picture with my baby girl all grown up that special morning... but this is as good as we got...
And that's about it for now.
