We are expecting baby # 2 on or around January 20. We have been very excited! And Pearce, too! She shared the news with nursery long before we were ready to announce. Before every nap time and bedtime, she rubs my belly, kisses it, and nuzzle her nose against it while saying "goochie, coochie, coo!" --- and all of this THROUGH her crib bars. She will then say as I'm walking out the door, "Sweet Dreams Claiborne" or "I love you Claiborne." I LOVE hearing her say Claiborne, it sounds so darn cute coming out of her mouth. I realize as her mother, and who she spends the majority of time with, I can be very influential on her, so I started telling her the baby name to like for a girl is Claiborne! My favorite! (Because she is certain we are having a baby girl.) You may think I have whacky taste in baby names, but Pearce and Claiborne have been 2 names that have stuck with me since high school.
Anyways, I was trying my hardest to convince Jeremy it was a "normal" name...but he wasn't buying it. (Understandable.) Well, he totally lucked out with my mom's visit. Because when I told her the name I wanted for a girl, she quickly said, "No. You can't name your child that. Just imagine the day when a boy will ask her out on a date and he calls her up and has to say: 'Claiborne, would you go out with me?' And then when his friends ask who he went out with he'd have to say 'Claiborne' and they would all think that is weird.
So needlesstosay, that will NOT be our child's name. :(
I have thought all along it was a boy, until today's doc visit. We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time, and Pearce was his little helper--she got to press the button to turn the machine on/off. The beat was strong and fast, and the doctor agreed with Pearce that she is having a little sister. So now, that's what I'm thinking too!
I scheduled the most important doctor's office visit (the 20 week ultrasound!!!) today, so we'll find out the real gender (hopefully) on August 27.

Congratulations! I remember when we were struggling with our girl names, and as soon as Tristan said the name Betsy, we knew that had to be her name. It sounded so sweet. Good luck at your next appointment!!
Yay! I'm so excited you made your announcement! I had to make sure to keep it under wraps until you were ready to share the news. :) Can't wait to find out what you're having!
I remember when we all thought Jennifer's baby would be Elise & Sterling kept calling her that even after she was named Scarlett. If it's a girl Pearce may always call her Clairborne :)
