We drove back to Girls Camp yesterday afternoon to spend the last evening with the girls, and a final dinner. This campsite is GORGEOUS!!! I usually don't crave camping, but this place made me wanna go camping badly! Pearce couldn't wait to get back up there. Each day she asked if it was Thursday. And finally when it was, I told her after she woke up from her nap. Sure enough when she awoke, the first thing she said to me was "Let's put my shoes on. Let's go to Girls Camp! Let's GO GO GO!!" And we did.
Both Pearce and I had a blast last night. I'm in heaven anytime my hair is played with, and these young teenage girls are AWESOME and they were fighting over doing all sorts of crazy fancy braids in my hair. No need to fight girls, each take a turn! And my hair was played with the majority of the night. I really haven't seen Pearce this happy for this long of a period of time. I wish there was a stronger word than HAPPY. All the girls are SO sweet and held her hand and took her to the lake, and played with her. And let her go in their tents, and sit in their big girl chairs. She was the youngest beehive there.
Eyeing the water for the first time. Really really wants to go in.
Getting closer.
And about as close as she'll get. Right inside the canoe on the shore. Hannah is hilarious - love listening to her over-exaggerated teenage stories. She was telling me she lost the oar earlier in the day, and then all of a sudden she sees it and is proud!! She found the missing oar!
happy, happy, happy
Final canoeing of the day.
Sweet Ely giving Pearce rides. Then the wheel fell off. I guess that's why the wagon was hidden behind the life-vest station in the bushes.
Hi girls! I wish I could go for a little ride!
playing around. thoroughly enjoying the perfect evening weather and breeze. and perfect views of the lake.
I love these sweet, fun girls.
Pearce was trying to do her own handstand, but really it was more like a summersault. But oh so impressive, Pearce. All the girl's cheered her on.
Can I get a picture with my little "camper"? :-) Probably the best night of her life.
Can you see Pearce below. I'm tellin' ya' -- she's one of the big girls now!
Beautiful fresh air.
Back at the campsite, we had our dutch oven dinners, and shortly after headed home. I was so nervous of what kind of meltdown she was gonna have when we finally left (way past her bedtime) but she was so sweet going around saying "night, night" to all the girls and giving them hugs. It was so cute. All I heard about in the car (until halfway through Park City) was Girls Camp this, and Girls Camp that. Then FINALLY she conked out!

Hey, my name is Mandy. I found your blog through Shannon (we met online a few years ago when I was going through IVF), she is so nice. Anyway, sorry to blogstalk you, but we have daughters the same age and I love reading your blog. We live in Heber City but have never been to this girls camp, it looks so pretty. My blog is colinandmandy.blogspot.com, although I am really bad at updating it. Sorry, this is random, just wanted to say hi.
These pictures are STUNNING! That second one and the one of that YW standing in front of the pirogue with the lake in the background are perfection...and I love that one with all of the faces looking down...be sure to post these on the bulletin board at church and get copies to the girls' families.
AND the one with the cattails in front of the girls rowing the boat...BEAUTIFUL!
