cousins

I was really looking forward to this visit as soon as I found out my big sis Jess was spending Christmas break at her inlaws in Provo. Even though we only see each other about every year and a half, it still somehow feels like we just hung out a month ago. Maybe because I sometimes talk on the phone with her 2x a day! hahaha
I was so excited that they could sneak away from Provo and come stay with us Friday through Saturday.

It is absolutely wonderful to see Pearce play with cousins. (Except when she was alone with sweet little Alex, 16 months old, and would shoulder clip, donkey kick or tackle him. Yikes!!) But she loved hanging with the girly-bug cousins that are a lil bit older than her. Jane is 3, Sophie is 5, and Grace is 8 and very nurturing. For the most part, the kids hung out on their own downstairs in the basement playing toys, dress-up, kitchen, coloring, and watching movies.

And me, Jeremy, Jessica and Scott visited in the living room chatting away. Jessica is so much fun to talk to, we could really talk for hours, and hours and hours. Growing up, us 3 older girls all shared a bedroom, and at one time all 3 of us were in high school together, and I remember plenty of nights where we somehow talked the entire night, and we would be ready to fall asleep right as it was time to get up for seminary. :-/

Jessica is also the one who got me into quilting/sewing. She is a master at her craft. She can hand-quilt a quilt in a week. Amazing. And she hand delivered me the coolest baby quilt I've ever seen for little Henry. Entire quilt is hand quilted and even binded by hand!! I absolutely love it!!!

It was fun as we were all chatting, me and Jessica were both on the sofa hand-quilting. I was working on a blanket for Henry, and Jessica finished up the final 6 (of 36) wonky stars from my quilting bee quilt from over a year ago that I got burnt out on. So now, I'm determined to finish that binding and be done! It was so much fun doing that with her.

The little girls ended up playing in Pearce's closet. Sophie is BIG into dresses, and I think tried on every dress in Pearce's closet which still includes dresses from last year. She is a tiny little thing and fits in stuff that Pea doesn't even fit in anymore. They even squeezed into her shoes, too. I was surprised Pearce didn't mind sharing her dresses, but I think she was just excited that they dressed her in her upcoming Easter dress that I got at this year's black Friday sale that I won't let her wear yet (ya know, cuz it's pastel and not weather appropriate at the moment.)

Can you tell how happy she was to have her "friends" over?? I so hope she can have a sister someday. My sisters are my best friends, and I hope she can have the same thing.

And I kept hearing them sing and dance, "Ring around the rosies..." too cute.
Later in the evening we left the house and went to Temple Square to see the Lights, and also stopped in the LDS History Museum to let the kids play at the Children's exhibit. My dad also flew into town this night, and Laura and him joined us there, too. It was FREEZING!!! We didn't last very long, before heading to City Creek Food Court for dinner. It was an absolute zoo and chaotic.

Tongue-waggers.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the 4 kids sleeping in the TV room downstairs. I set up 4 beds using the sectional sofa, a twin air mattress, and a bed made from the pillows from the sofa. Everyone looked pretty comfy cozy to me. :-) It was just a cute/fun sight to see all the kids lying in their beds watching Brave until they fell asleep. And I was happy that we had a place for all of them to stay.

Saturday morning, after we lounged around for the good part of the morning, we decided we should get out. We took some pictures of all the cousins on the front porch then took of for City Creek again to let kids play in indoor Dinosaur playground. Then we parted ways, since they needed to get back to Provo.

these kids are pretty crazy, I tell ya!

Miss you guys already!!!

You can just feel the buzz of energy through those pictures! What fun to have so many cousins to play with!
Too bad she all but karate chopped little Alex! They all look like they had the best time.

Jessica's quilt is so cool! I can't believe she did it all by hand. That is amazing. What a special keepsake!

Cute cuzzies!

That quilt for henry is AMAZING!!! Jessica is SO talented!

I love the simpleness of it, but the fun robot with patchwork center. Are the arms just quilting?
